Sir Sidney's brother knew our grandad!
By Jon Davey
Today Uncle Eric and Aunty Elaine came over for tea...
Full story here... short story below...
Grandad popped in to say hello and the conversation turned to boys toys ... James May ... Spitfires ... "Hurricane's won the Battle of Britain ... designed by a local chap... Sir Sydney Camm"
Full Size Hawker Hurricane in Alexandra Gardens, Windsor
For me, the idea of a Hurricane in Alexandra Gardens, Windsor for kids to admire from an engineering point of view and as a reminder that war is not to be taken lightly, pick your battles wisely and if you do get involved make sure your kick butt !
Like David beat Goliath this evening

A Deck of Cards – featuring Flight Lieutenant Matthew Little
By Jazzmouse
Deck of cards
This popular song Deck of Cards (sometimes known as "A Soldier's Prayer Book") was written in 1948 by "T." Texas Tyler and was recorded by (among others) Tex Ritter in 1948, Wink Martindale in 1959, Bill Anderson in 1991 and Max Bygraves.
In that 1948 version, the story is set during World War II and stars a soldier whose unit, which has been fighting in North Africa, is newly arrived at Casino. One Sunday morning, some of the soldiers in that unit go to church; those who have prayer books read them during the service, but one soldier pulls out a deck of cards, prompting his sergeant to haul this apparent blasphemer before the provost marshal. As the tale unfolds we learn that the deck of cards is the soldiers “Bible, almanac and prayer Book.”

This new version is set in the Middle East and features Flight Lieutenant Matthew Little who is Director of Music of The Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment. Flight Lieutenant Little has been featured on many of the Royal Air Forces engagements including the Festival of Remembrance, Edinburgh Tattoo, Songs of Praise (BBC), and the Royal Military Tattoo 2000.
Released by Square Biz Records it is available on iTunes priced £0.79.

The whole project was, arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered by Paul Fawcus at Jazzmouse Productions and produced by Jimmie Gray for Square Biz Records

Made in Windsor Berkshire UK
By Jon Davey
Business Leads UK is a website that has been set up by Jon Davey to help UK businesses thrive and prosper.
In 2002 we set up Business in Berkshire to help local businesses boost their profile and promote local networking events. Business Leads UK is not restricted to Berkshire, anyone from UK based businesses can join in.
There is a business theory called the Regional Economic Multiplier which states that £1 spent with a local business will be spent with between six or seven other local businesses and therefore help many local businesses and their families.
Many of the large corporate and banks have farmed off their customer services to the Far East based on cost with little thought for the long term impact both economically in the UK and for the reputation of their brand.
Business Leads UK is about encouraging businesses to trade locally. Look to your town, then your county, your country and then, if you have to go abroad… but not as first choice just because of price… that is such short-termism!
We particularly need to encourage manufacturing here in the UK and would love to hear from companies who actually make things. We have a very strong seo base with our Business in Berkshire website and would be happy to help local manufacturers with FREE web space.
If you are a manufacturing company sign up to our Business Leads UK community, we can then help you find opportunities to do business… if you don’t tell us who you are how can we help?
We’d particularly like to hear from businesses in Windsor… Berkshire… and the UK !
