25-02-2010 Doc-U-Ment has created a "complete it yourself" or "do it yourself" business continuity plan template. Its tailored for any small or medium size enterprise to use. A completed plan can then be used to protect your business against major incidents including flooding and fire. Often such incidents bring businesses without a plan to a premature end. A direct consequence of covering against serious but infrequent incidents is that lesser but more frequent every day incidents are also covered.

24-02-2010 When it comes to recycling packaging, 73% of packaging can currently be recycled in England but we only recycle 33%. So what happens to the left over 40%? It either ends up in landfill, or sent across the waters for it to be recycled elsewhere. As a consumer, it can indeed be very tricky in terms of knowing what can be recycled at the same time the what cannot.
moreInspire Development and Coaching
24-02-2010 Never underestimate the power of coaching in the moment. Thirty seconds spent talking together during a critical incident, where you remember to ask questions rather than issue instructions, is coaching at its most impactful. Or consider a situation where you get someone to change their mindset from describing an intractable problem, to flipping it over and turning it into a “how to” statement which contains a goal that can now be worked towards. That is the power of coaching in real time.

moreWhat is your Twitter TiTe factor?
By Jon Davey|
Recently I have been completely amused by the number of really, what I would consider, strong companies that have added the Twitter logo to the front page of their website with a link to their Twitter account … but then have only a hand full of followers … what does that say??
The home page has been put together by their expert design team that costs them £25k a month to have sitting around waiting for their next job. It has been reviewed by the sales director and his 10 man team that costs another £75k a month. The websites underlines the power of the company, mentions a few key accounts and explains how they are the best of the best at Top Gun. The buyer has walked onto the website with a £1,000,000 contract, 50% GP and all is looking good for him to pick up the phone and request a meeting … UNTIL … “Look they have a Twitter account like Stephen Fry, with their profile they must have at least 100,000 followers?” thinks the buyer and moves the mouse over the Twitter icon and clicks through to their Twitter account … “Following 48, followers 3 … ha, ha, ha … these guys obviously have a great copy writer but who the hell in marketing let that slip through … later losers!” It’s incredible but totally true … just look around the web and you find little Tommy Tucker with 20,000 followers … some bloke claiming to be a Twitter guru with 2,000 followers … companies giving it a go and a little thought with 200 … and a bunch of multi million pound companies with 20. Twitter is just the latest, not even that, one of the more recent online marketing tools that has its place but please world, don’t get obsessed and pulled in by the marketing buzz as in 2 minutes it will all be over and we’ll be on to the next great thing. Personally I feel that Google buzz has far more potential and let’s face it, like BT own the telco network in the UK, Google owns the servers and so can ensure who’s up and who’s down at any given moment in time. By all means take a look at Twitter and consider how you are going to use it but don’t put it on your home page until you have a plan and have warmed up the pan with a few hundred followers. Always consider the TiTe factor … you’ll either be “tight” or a “tit” … divide the number of followers you have by the number you are following to get your TiTe number. A TiTe of less than 1 then you are officially a tit and need to consider what you’re doing with Twitter and do you listen to all those you are following, so why?? If your TiTe is around 1 then you are possibly a Twitter guru who is following the world so you get more followers to make things look good, why else would you follow 5,000 people?? If your TiTe is greater than 10 then you’re officially “tight” and obviously very interesting with something of value to say to the world. People are following you as they are interested, not just because you followed them … you may merely be a celeb but then you could be much more !! Well that’s my take on it but it would be… @jondavey Remember folks, tweet carefully out there… Jon Davey www.socialmediadirectors.co.uk 01753 852904 |

Anthony Worrall Thompson passionate about local food

We are FIVE! Windsor Farmers’ Market celebrates its fifth birthday on Saturday 6 March at its permanent location in St Leonard’s Road, Windsor.
Local restaurateur and celebrated TV chef Anthony Worrall Thompson who is a passionate advocate of local food for local people will meet shoppers and stall-holders, and cut the birthday cake. Diane Harker who manages the market on behalf of Thames Valley Farmers' Market Co-operative says: “The last five years have flown by and the market is better than ever. More and more local people come to the market because they know they can buy genuine local produce with a known provenance. “We’re very grateful to the Windsor & Eton Town Partnership for all they did to initiate the market and their continuing support for local producers and the local economy. St Leonard’s Road is a good site and we’re established here with other local businesses. I expect we will have a market in Peascod Street on certain occasions, but St Leonard’s Rd is ‘home turf’.” Cllr Colin Rayner, Lead Member Highways and Streetcare and local farmer welcomes the continuing tradition of a monthly farmers’ market: “This is very much part of the Windsor shopping scene and a welcome attraction for visitors as well as a regular venue for local shoppers. It brings the countryside into Windsor and supports farmers as well as local businesses.” |
Rotary Collection in Windsor for Polio

Worldwide cases now reduced to 1600 per annum It is over 28 years since the last case of Polio in the UK but many still remember this horrific, crippling sometimes fatal childhood disease. In 2010 Polio, a disease for which there is no cure, is still however a harrowing reality for children in Africa and Asia. As a result of a Polio immunization campaign the annual number of Polio cases has dramatically reduced from 350,000 cases in 15 countries in 1985 to only 1600 cases in 4 countries (Afghanistan, Northern India, Nigeria and Pakistan) last year. Rotary International and Rotary clubs have been a driving force in this campaign since 1985 and this month Rotary Clubs throughout the UK together with Tesco will be collecting money to further advance the fight against Polio. Members of the Rotary Club of Windsor St George and Windsor & Eton will be collecting at Tesco in Windsor on Saturday 27th February. Each £1 raised will pay for 5 children to be immunised against Polio and will continue the onward march towards total eradication of Polio. A Polio-free world could just be round the corner Carol Buckland, President of Windsor St George Rotary Club and the local event coordinator said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Tesco staff and thank them for their enthusiastic support” “Every penny raised will go towards the continuing efforts to destroy this horrible disease. Eradication of Polio would be a dream come true and would be only the second time in history, after smallpox, that we have managed to totally eradicate a disease” |
January news from Wokingham copywriter
By W'hamCopywriterIn January, Nicola donned her copywriting hat for local fulfilment company SJM Handling, for whom she wrote new webcopy and brochure copy. She also worked on website copy for Marlow's MLL Telecom, a variety of copy (from member interviews to social media copy) for the London Photographic Association, the monthly newsletter of Windsor lifestyle management company Assorti and a series of (ghost) blogs. She continued to work with local digital marketing agency Wildfire UK.
She wrote an article for Women's Running magazine about how cycling can boost running performance and took care of the open-water swimming column in British Swimming's member magazine. She also helped ActiveMate, the dating agency for sporty people, with their PR (she wrote press releases and advised on how best to circulate them to Editors and journalists).
Once the snow had melted, Nicola hit the road, paying a visit to the lovely ladies at Promote PR to hear all about their sport and fitness clients, and attending a fantastic kettlebell workshop near Guildford run by Jon le Tocq. She got two more kettlebells for Christmas so needed some new ideas to add to her routine!

Two new Albums from Gary Williams
By Jazzmouse
Gary first came to public attention when he appeared with the BBC Big Band on television paying tribute to Vic Damone. Since then he has become a favourite performer and broadcaster with leading big bands and concert orchestras including the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, the Hallé, Royal Scottish National, City of Birmingham Symphony, the Melbourne Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Ireland’s RTE orchestra. He is a regular guest of the BBC Concert Orchestra for Friday Night Is Music Night and had the honour of performing for The Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace. As a headline act on the world’s luxury cruise liners he has visited over 50 countries. Other work includes 150 performances as Sinatra in the West End’s ‘The Rat Pack’, The Magic of Bacharach, The Legend of Sinatra (with David Jacobs), Channel 5’s Open House working alongside Donny Osmond and Burt Bacharach and BBC1’s ‘Doctor Who Christmas Special’.
After weeks in the studio, I am delighted to announce two new albums due for release in March. The Sinatra album is with Chris Dean and his orchestra, featuring a full big band throughout and strings on many tracks. It is in fact my first big band album. I’ve tried to focus on the classics without resorting to the most obvious choices. There are some stunning arrangements and particular favourites include All or Nothing At All, Brazil, They All Laughed, Please Be Kind and Where or When.
The second album is a compilation of the last three CDs recorded at Abbey Road, aptly named “Gary Williams – The Best of Abbey Road. Both should be released late March and be available by post Dress Circle and online from iTunes and all the other download sites.
Please got to Gary’s website for more information http://garywilliams.co.uk/
“Michael Bublé isn’t the only person keeping the Sinatra flame alive.” Clive Davis for The Sunday Times
“Every song he sang was word and note perfect and confirmed the belief of many in his audience, now surely his “fans”, that he is the best young singer of the Sinatra era of melodies in the country, if not the world… his presentation of all of these well-loved classics was performed with a panache which would have pleased ‘The Guv’nor’ himself.” Perfectly Frank Magazine
