Launching Business Leads UK with 122 Members
By Jon DaveyOver the last few weeks 122 people have signed up to Business Leads UK before today's launch ...
The morning started with coffee and open networking ... we all made our way through to the auditorium where yours truly took the floor ... I outlined the planned morning ... best laid plans and all that!!
Everyone was invited to introduce themselves for one minute ... this is a great way to start any event as presenters can relate their content to the audience and points made can gain nods from appropriate third parties ... or, not, as the case may be!!
Dan shared with us how The Firestation are using social media to connect with the local community and those who like to travel to Windsor to enjoy the arts ... you can find links to their Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and YouTube accounts right here ... go connect with The Firestation ... great place for giving presentations, go check it out.
All the 1 minutes and Dan's piece were shared with the world via our LiveStream account ... but then ...
My mini laptop filled up its cache and so I rebooted the machine before my presentation ... but then ... on reboot this site, being built in CSS and being viewed "on a phone" which is what my mini laptop considers itself to be, went all single column on me !!! arghhhhh !!! Does anyone know the setting I need to change???
I talked around it but it's not the same ... it impacted on my presentation ... it is far easier to explain when you can show what you are talking about ... I'll be running online workshops from the comfort of The Shed shortly to explain Business Leads UK to our members ... tune in soon !!!
With the technology hickups we had reached lunchtime and I'd wanted to include a couple of other presentations. Christine usually give us news from the stars but we only had time for one presentation before lunch ... Debbie Hasler is a Theta Healing practitioner and she gave us a live demonstration using one of the audience members ... amazing!
We enjoyed a networking lunch, exchanged cards and went on our merry way a little older and wiser ...

FREE Membership
As well as the home page, membership options and the website blog you get to see member events, videos and our TV channel.
Trial Membership £2.50 per month
Trial members get to see the Membership list, currently around 92 business men and women. You can join groups, review business leads and jobs posted by other members.
SME Membership £25.00 per month
This is where our members start to make the most of Business Leads UK. There is a summary page, BLUK Today, showing latest member activities. You can add blogs, join groups & contact other members. We are planning a tenders page, with news of the latest government contracts and also a BLUK leads area. Members will post leads they hear about while in the course of their business for fellow members to make the most of.
Wiggle-ON! Membership from £250 per month
For businesses that appreciate the business lead opportunities that Jon and his team can generate, the Wiggle-ON! Membership is for you! We bring our BLG Microsites and other added value services to the party. We have a forum to ask questions that all can benefit from. Research papers will be published and workshops organised.

Anyone who signs up before Tuesday next week will be assigned an SME Membership level ... but will only retain this if they use the account ... if they simply think of it as another link then their membership level reduced to Trial or FREE and if they make no noises about why, how can they make things better, etc. Then we’ll delete the account when it has outlived its usefulness to us.
Business today is tough and this social network is not about pussy footing around... we want to help those that help us grow and find fresh new business opportunities ... those that are simply leaching off our energy will be given little thought.

Building your reputation using Social Media Networks

• Yesterday I had a meeting with one of the country’s largest legal firms who would like to work with us ... they approached me
• Today a leading charity knocked on my door with an idea they would like help with ... they approached me
• Next Monday I am giving a presentation at an online marketing seminar for hoteliers in London organised by the Hotel Marketing Association ... they approached me
I could go on but there is a common thread here ... can you spot it?
The reason they approached me is because they are connected to me in some way. At some point they had a need for, or an interest in, online marketing and found me through an online search or were pointed in my direction by one of our happy customers. Because they like what I have to say, offer, demonstrate or prove through real time activity, when the time is right for them they connect and we move forward on various projects.
We have been working with the HMA for around 7 years and so they know I’m competent. The others have only been conversations but they know of my existence through online marketing and as we move towards 2010, social media networks will be the vehicle of choice for those who feel passionate about a subject and want to connect with more like minded folk.
Dave Clarke of NRG Networks has posted two comments on me recently ... the first was "check this guy out, he’s brilliant" (or words to that effect, I can’t recall the actual ones!!) The second was another mention in his blog after I sent him a thank you email, forwarding the message I had received from Google Alerts showing his first mention of me.
All these mentions, especially if they contain a contextual link, will help to increase the strength of your website as links naturally added help to boost your sites popularity.
In the old days this was because link building was a hot seo topic. Today it is more to do with people reading content on web pages / blog and wanting to know more... they can click on a link to relevant content and so get to know more and that you exist!
Social media networks are growing and Jon Davey can help you lay the foundations of your network be it for business or pleasure.
